Fort Chipewyan is located 225 air kilometres north of Fort McMurray and 610 air kilometres northeast of Edmonton. Fort McMurray is serviced daily by Canadian Air Lines and Air Canada from Edmonton. Fort Chipewyan is serviced daily by Contact Air from Fort McMurray.
